The Arts Council has congratulated both Yvonne Farrell and Shelley
McNamara on their appointment as overall curators to the 2018 Venice Biennale,
the most important exhibition of architecture in the world. Coming on foot of
winning the inaugural Royal Institute of British Architects International
Award, their status and profile internationally is further underscored.
Speaking today, Arts Council Chair, Sheila Pratschke said “The
work of Shelley and Yvonne, through their practice Grafton Architects,
continues to reach new heights internationally. Both Shelley and Yvonne are
members of Aosdána and they represent the arts in Ireland, both through their
practice and their integrity as individual artists. This achievement is truly
exceptional and demonstrates how Irish architects continue to make their mark
at the very highest international level”.
The 16th International
Architecture Exhibition will open on Saturday, 26th May and will conclude on Sunday, 25th November 2018.
