The Arts Council today unveiled the all-new Culturefox , a cutting edge free online arts events guide. The new site was launched by the Irish actor Don Wycherley. Completely refashioned, with lightning-fast technical specifications and a crisp, clean design, Culturefox will help people right around the country discover great arts and culture near them.
Independent.ie is partnering with the Arts Council on the new Culturefox.
In addition to enjoying advanced photography and video capabilities to get a sense of the experience on offer, and a range of new features including sophisticated search, users can personalise Culturefox to their tastes. If they bookmark an upcoming event of interest they will receive a ‘last chance’ reminder email before it ends.
Popular genres from theatre to music, from the visual arts to literature and comedy, as well as museums and other cultural venues are displayed on Culturefox, with special sections for free and family-friendly events.
Orlaith McBride, Director of the Arts Council, said:
“We embarked on this project as we wanted to put technological innovation to work on behalf of the needs of the public and the arts sector alike. The new Culturefox makes it easier than ever before to discover the great arts experiences that are on offer in this country across a range of art forms. It’s a fantastic tool that means you’ll never miss out on a sublime musical concert, essential exhibition or show-stopping theatrical performance again.”
Lia Bresnihan at Independent.ie said:
“Independent.ie is delighted to partner with the Arts Council on the new Culturefox. Combining technological sophistication with great content, we think Culturefox will transform how people seek out and promote arts events in Ireland. Approximately 700,000 users visit the entertainment section of independent.ie on a monthly basis, so we are delighted to bring them the additional service of a complete set of arts and entertainment listings from all across Ireland.”
Those promoting arts events have a range of new resources at their finger-tips to showcase an event at its best, including an all-new interface, multi-media use and social media integration.
Sheila Pratschke, Chair of the Arts Council, said:
“This is an excellent example of the work the Arts Council is doing to ensure the arts sector has the optimum tools to reach out to a public that is keen to enjoy great art. Culturefox is a place where potential audiences and promoters can encounter one another, and will, we hope, lead to ever greater appreciation of the immense talent this country possesses. Selfishly, as a lover of art in all its forms, I look forward to using the new Culturefox myself and benefitting from the window it provides into the vibrant and ever-changing world of Irish arts.”
