The Arts Council has welcomed the Government's July Stimulus package, saying it represented great news for the arts.
Arts Council Director Maureen Kennelly said: "The arts can play a hugely positive role in the recovery of our society and our economy, and the stimulus package announced today acknowledges this. Artists and arts organisations across the country will be supported by these measures."
She said the Arts Council would re-invest additional money directly in artists and arts organisations, through bursaries, commissions, projects and other schemes to sustain the arts sector, thereby enabling the arts play a full part in national recovery.
