The Literary Tent (as supported by the Arts Council) has long been a beacon of fascination for Picnickers drawn to Stradbally’s very own Latin Quarter: the MindField Arena. This year’s line-up promises yet another glorious mix of novelists and songsmiths, drawn from a variety of genres, all beautifully complemented by live music performances in the most perfect of surrounds.
This year we welcome:
— Richard Ford, author of Independence Day (winner of both the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1995) and Canada (2012). In July of this year Richard received the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. He will be in conversation with Nadine O’Regan, Books and Arts Editor with The Sunday Business Post
— ‘Singing In The Dark’: Camille O'Sullivan and Anne Enright in conversation
— Kevin Barry, author of City of Bohane (winner of 2013’s International Dublin Literary Award) and Beatlebone (winner of last year’s prestigious Goldsmiths Prize)
— Tim Burgess (of The Charlatans) in conversation with Newstalk’s Tom Dunne
— Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) reading selections from Denis Johnson’s Jesus’ Son, with music from John Murry (Graceless Age)
— Lisa McInerney (winner the 2016 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction for The Glorious Heresies) and Donal Ryan (The Spinning Heart) with music from singer-songwriter, Cian Nugent (Night Fiction)
— Songs from ‘Starboard Home’ featuring Paul Noonan (Bell X1), Caitriona Lally (author of Eggshells), Lisa O’Neill (Pothole in the Sky) and John Sheahan (of The Dubliners)
— Claire-Louise Bennett (Pond) and Danielle McLaughlin (Dinosaurs on Other Planets) with music from Saint Sister
— Liz Nugent (Unravelling Oliver and Lying in Wait) in conversation with RTÉ’s arts correspondent, Sinéad Crowley (Can Anybody Help Me?)
