Dublin City University is delighted to announce the appointment of writer, Réaltán Ní Leannáin, as Irish-Language Writer-in-Residence for the academic year 2018-2019. The position is funded jointly by the Arts Council and DCU.
Réaltán was born in Belfast and holds a BA in Irish Studies and Spanish from Ulster University. She has taught at post-primary level and has lectured in Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and Queen's University, Belfast.
She wrote a collection of poems based on a diary she kept following a diagnosis of cancer, which was published in 2011 as Turas Ailse. She also started a companion blog http://turasailse.blogspot.ie/ which has attracted awards and is still live. Her collection of short stories, Dílis, was published in 2015 and her radio drama, Is iomaí Cor, appeared this year.
She was the first Irish-language writer to go abroad with the OtherWords bursary scheme in 2016.
