Fulfilling his promise of bringing stories to magical places, Laureate na nÓg, Eoin Colfer, has launched his nationwide
Once Upon A Place storytellers tour at Hook Head in County Wexford. Eoin grew up in the area and many of his own stories are inspired by the beautiful landscape and buildings, including the Hook Head Lighthouse and the atmospheric Loftus Hall. He was delighted to gather children from schools throughout Wexford to listen to stories told by himself, P.J. Lynch and Grainne Clear.
The children came from St. Canices, New Ross, Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts and Scoil Mhaodhóig Poulfur and were accompanied by some of their teachers. At the lighthouse they listened to Eoin's stories from the area before making the short trip over to Loftus Hall, where P.J. Lynch entertained them with the story of an emigrant on the Mayflower.
Also joining them earlier in the day were George Lawlor, Mayor of Wexford, Philip Knight of the Wexford County Council Arts Office and Eileen Morrissey of Wexford County Libraries.
The Once Upon A Place tour will travel the length and breadth of Ireland - further information is available here:
