The Arts Council and RTÉ are delighted to announce that as part of Culture Night 2018 they are partnering to showcase an exciting selection of artworks from the Arts Council’s Collection as part of the open-air concert at National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks.
Works selected from the Arts Council Collection of almost 1,100 pieces of modern and contemporary Irish art will be displayed during the evening’s event. These artworks celebrate the Arts Council’s proud history of purchasing excellent and ambitious works reflecting the practise of artists working in Ireland today.
Works by many of Irelands most distinguished and celebrated artists will be shown on the night including pieces by: Amanda Coogan, Diana Copperwhite, Willie Doherty, Damien Flood, Siobhán Hapaska, Barbara Knezevic, Clare Langan, Mairead O'hEocha, Tony O'Malley and more.
This partnership with RTÉ is the latest example of the Arts Council’s long tradition of sharing excellent contemporary art with audiences across Ireland.
In addition, the Arts Council’s Laureate na nÓg, Sarah Crossan will also read live at Collins Barracks with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
The Arts Council is also inviting the public to the Council offices in Merrion Square as part of Culture night where they can see a further selection of works from its Collection. The exhibition will include two acquisitions shown for the first time, an ambitious installation Exquisite tempo sector by Barbara Knezevic and two large paintings Protest Crowd, Chicago USA, Trump Rally (2016) 1 & 2 by Joy Gerrard.
