The Arts Council is saddened to learn of the passing of poet, playwright, novelist, memoirist and Aosdána member Leland Bardwell.
Arts Council Chair Sheila Pratschke said: "Over the past 50 years, Leland Bardwell has occupied a unique and important place in Ireland's literary and cultural life. A gifted writer of poetry and prose, as well as a talented dramatist, Bardwell was also deeply committed to encouraging other writers and artists. She will be hugely missed but we take solace in knowing her legacy will live on through her profound body of work."
