The North Atlantic Fiddle Convention (NAFCo) has recently received funding from the Traditional Arts Project Award which was re-introduced in 2011. The award is aimed at assisting organisations and individual artists in realising ambitious and large scale projects which will be of benefit to the traditional arts sector.
From 27 June until 1 July 2012, the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention will be visiting Ireland for the first time after being hosted in previous years by Canada, the United States, Shetland Islands, Scotland and in Scandinavia. NAFCo celebrates the rich fiddle and dance traditions of the Atlantic fringe and their common characteristics and shared cultural heritage.
