How would you describe your role as a Creative Associate?
I’m a creative explorer for each school. I create a space were the students, teachers and parents can discover creative practices they would like to develop. I create links for the school to build relationships with professional practitioners and the wider creative community.
What has being a Creative Associate meant for your career?
I started my role as Creative Associate having recently moved back to live in Ireland. It’s enabled me to build new professional relationships, reignite networks I previously had and to understand the creative work being done by schools.
What is the best piece of advice you received early on in your career?
Don’t try to create and analyse at the same time. You need time and space to experiment and make mistakes. Then you need time to reflect and analyse.
What is the best piece of advice you would give to a new Creative Associate?
Every school is busy and completely different. It’s worthwhile getting to know each school community and the wealth of creative projects that they already do.
What / who has influenced your career?
The strong community I grew up in and my love for learning new things.
