A number of schemes and initiatives have been established for the particular support of film.
Reel Art is an Arts Council scheme designed to provide film artists with a unique opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme. Operated in association with Filmbase and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Reel Art supports the making of two films with a grant of €70,000-80,000 per project.
The deadline for applications for Reel Art 2013 is 5pm on Friday, 18 October 2013.
Film artists interested in applying for Reel Art are invited to attend an information session on the scheme on Tuesday, 17 September at 3pm in Filmbase.

Splanc! is a joint initiative of the Arts Council and TG4. It supports the making of creative documentaries on the arts in Irish and is operated on a biennial basis.
Full details for the next round of Splanc! will be published in autumn 2013.
Frameworks is a scheme for the making of creative animated short films for broadcast and festival exhibition. It is a joint initiative of the Arts Council, the Irish Film Board and RTÉ.
