Financial support

The Arts Council offers a wide range of financial supports across artforms and arts practices, including the traditional arts (as listed below). We offer assistance in a number of ways, from the provision of bursary awards to individual artists to the funding of traditional arts resource organisations, archives, festivals and cultural groups.

Traditional arts bursary award11 July 201310000The purpose of the traditional arts bursary award is to support professional artists to develop their art practice. It provides artists with the time and resources to think, research, reflect and critically engage with their art.
Annual fundingClosing date passedUnlimitedThe purpose of annual funding is to provide stable and secure funding to certain arts organisations (on an annual basis). Applicants may request a contribution towards both operating and artistic programming costs.
Annual programming grantClosing date passedUnlimitedThe purpose of the annual programming grant is to assist applicants with the costs of their artistic programme. The scheme is not intended to provide support for ongoing operating/administrative costs.
Artist in the community scheme bursary awardClosing date passed10000The arts and disability bursary award, as part of the artist in the community scheme, aims to support an individual professional artist in any artform working in the field of arts and disability.

EU Local Partnership schemeClosing date passedUnlimitedFor project activities and events taking place 1 January 2013 to 30 June 2013 inclusive. To mark Irelands Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this special issue of the Local Partnership Scheme is intended to support Local Authorities and Ealaín na Gaeltachta to develop or carry out innovative collaborative arts projects in co-operation with arts organisations within their localities or regions, and with partners elsewhere in Europe.
Festivals and events schemeClosing date passed20000The Arts Council has introduced a new scheme to support festivals and events. The scheme will be open to multi-disciplinary festivals and single artform festivals. Events may be one-off projects or programmed over a number of months.

RAISEClosing date passed100000RAISE is a fundraising capacity building initiative. RAISE will provide one-to-one professional support to eight arts organisations for two years, planning and implementing a tailored fundraising programme. The Arts Council is calling for expressions of interest from its funded organisations typically these will be in receipt of RFO, Annual Funding or Annual Programme Grant.
Regularly funded organisationsClosing date passedUnlimitedThe purpose of this programme is to strengthen and make more secure a group of key arts organisations, by contributing to both their operating and artistic programming costs. This funding programme is not open to general applications. Instead, the Arts Council will invite organisations to participate on the basis of published criteria.

Traditional arts commissions awardClosing date passed10000The Traditional Arts Commissions Award is focused on partnerships. The primary purpose of this award is to facilitate partnerships between commissioners and artists that result in some form of creative output.
