The Arts Council is the Irish government agency for developing and promoting the arts. It works in partnership with artists, arts organisations, public policy makers and others to build a central place for the arts in Irish life.

Reporting to the Chairman of the Arts Council, the Director is the Chief Executive and has responsibility for both the leadership and management of the organisation; proposing and gaining support for new strategies as well as delivering its mission, which is governed by a combination of statutory requirements, Government and Council policy. At a time of economic challenge and creative opportunity, the Arts Council seeks an energetic, dynamic and entrepreneurial individual who will have a deep knowledge and extensive experience of working within the arts sector nationally or internationally. S/he will have strong leadership and team skills, will play a pivotal role in the management of key stakeholder relationships and will facilitate the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives to enhance Irish cultural and artistic life.
