Following a major funding commitment by the Arts Council for 2013 and 2014, the Arts Council, Arts and Disability Ireland (ADI), Cork City Council, Galway City and County Councils, and Mayo County Council worked together to create Ignite.
The Chairman of the Arts Council, Ms Pat Moylan, has said the State should not take such a narrow view of stimuli for the economy and it needs to get away from the Celtic Tiger thinking that the only stimulus jobs that can be created are in construction.

Festival goers, tourists and businesses around Ireland will benefit this year from further support by the Arts Council to bring the best in entertainment and the arts to festivals across the country.
The Arts Council wishes to procure the services of a Music Adviser to meet the needs of the organisation both from a quality and service delivery perspective. The successful tenderer will be an experienced music practitioner with the expertise and experience required to work with the Arts Council's staff by assisting in the appraisal and assessment of funding applications and providing critical advice on artistic work.
