17 May 2011: Arts Council expresses its regret at the passing of Tomás Mac Anna

The Arts Council has expressed its regret at the passing of Tomás Mac Anna.
Speaking this evening, Pat Moylan, Chairman of the Arts Council said, "The Council is deeply saddened at the passing of Tomás Mac Anna, a true giant of Irish theatre, he was one of the most distinguished Irish directors. He is woven into the fabric and history of Irish theatre, especially the Abbey theatre. His commitment to modern theatrical language as well as the epic scale and visual confidence of his productions were hallmarks of his work."
