The Arts Council wishes to procure the services of a number of Arts Advisers to meet the needs of the organisation both from a quality and service delivery perspective. The art form areas to which this relates are: Architecture; Circus, Street Arts & Spectacle; Film; Opera; Theatre; Traditional Arts. Each contract will be offered separately.

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan, TD, announced the Commissioner and Curator for Ireland’s representation at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice in 2014.

18 July 2013: Arts Council funded Ignite project in Cork, Galway and Mayo

Following a major funding commitment by the Arts Council for 2013 and 2014, the Arts Council, Arts and Disability Ireland (ADI), Cork City Council, Galway City and County Councils, and Mayo County Council worked together to create Ignite.

The Chairman of the Arts Council, Ms Pat Moylan, has said the State should not take such a narrow view of stimuli for the economy and it needs to get away from the Celtic Tiger thinking that the only stimulus jobs that can be created are in construction.

30 May 2013: Arts Council announces launch of Ireland’s Exhibition at the 55th Venice Art Biennale

Ireland’s representation at the 55th Venice Art Biennale was launched on Thursday 30 May in Venice. La Biennale di Venezia has long been recognised as the most important visual arts showcase in the world. Ireland’s participation at the Venice Biennale is an initiative of the Culture Ireland division of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in partnership with the Arts Council.
