As part of the Culture Night celebrations the Arts Council will open its doors on Friday 21 September from 5.30 pm until 9.00 pm to showcase work from its collection. A special focus this year will be on two works by the artist Patrick Scott, who was elected as a Saoi of Aosdana in July 2007.
The Chairman of the Arts Council Ms Pat Moylan has welcomed the announcement of additional jobs for Galway by the gaming company Electronic Arts. The Creative Industries hold a real dividend for Ireland, Ms Moylan said.
In 2012, the Arts Council celebrates the 60 years of supporting the arts with a series of exhibitions titled 'Into the Light - 60 Years of Supporting the Arts' which will be held in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Sligo. In 2012, the Arts Council celebrates the 50th Anniversary of its collection as well as 60 years of supporting the arts.
