As part of the ongoing implementation of its Touring Policy, the Arts Council is further developing a scheme to support the touring and dissemination of work in a broad range of artforms.
Following on from the 2010 scheme, which offered c. €1m in support of tours taking place throughout 2011, the initiative is now being extended. Each year, commencing in 2011, applications will be received on two deadlines falling in April/May and October. Building on the audience focused approach that characterises the Touring Policy, the expanded scheme is designed to support genuine collaboration between those who produce work and wish to tour and the presenting venue or local promoter.
The deadline for Round 1 of the 2011 Medium Term Planning strand of the scheme, primarily intended to contribute towards the costs of tours planned to be on the road during the period August 2011 - June 2012, is 5:30pm, Thursday 5 May 2011.
The deadline for Round 2 of the 2011 Medium Term Planning strand of the scheme, primarily intended to contribute towards the costs of tours planned to be on the road during the period July - December 2012, will occur in October 2011 (exact date to be notified).
The same October 2011 deadline will also mark the introduction of a new Advance Planning strand of the scheme. This is intended to contribute towards the costs of tours planned to be on the road during the period January - December 2013.
It is intended to maintain this pattern of two deadlines (in Spring and Autumn) every year so that similar timeframes in 2012 will support the planning of touring activity taking place in 2013 and (via the Advance Planning strand) in 2014 as well.
