28 February 2011: The recipient of the Kevin Kieran Architecture Award 2011-2013 is announced

The Arts Council and the Office of Public Works are pleased to announce architect Andrew Clancy of Clancy Moore Architects, Dublin as the recipient of the Kevin Kieran Award 2011-2013.

The award, worth €50,000 over two years, is designed to support architectural excellence and innovation through assisting the artistic formation and career development of an architect.

Andrew Clancy graduated from UCD in 2001. Having worked as an architect since then, he jointly established the firm of Clancy Moore Architects with Colm Moore in 2006.

The award will enable research into place-specific forms of construction as a means to develop innovative models of collaboration between design professionals and the building industry.  This process will present alternative models for architectural practice, which hope to enhance the quality of architecture and extend its influence in the creation of the built environment.

Claire Doyle, Head of Architecture at the Arts Council said: "The Arts Council is delighted to offer the Kevin Kieran Award to Andrew Clancy. Andrew shows a deep commitment to his proposed area of research and we believe it will have a significant impact on the development of architecture in Ireland".

Pat Cooney, State Architect and Principal Architect at the Office of Public works said: "Once again the Kevin Kiernan award affords the opportunity for engagement with stimulating and innovative thinking in the creation of architecture.  The research project to be advanced by Andrew Clancy into place-specific construction and its potential within the whole industry is most promising".
