12 April 2011: Arts Council congratulates the three Irish authors shortlisted for 2011 International IMPAC Prize

The Arts Council wishes to congratulate William Trevor, Colm Tóibín and Colum McCann on the news that they have been shortlisted for the 2011 International IMPAC Prize.

Trevor has been shortlisted for his acutely observed novel Love and Summer; Tóibín for his subtle, beautifully crafted Brooklyn; and McCann for his ambitious and layered novel Let the Great World Spin.

162 titles were nominated for the €100,000 Award, the world’s most valuable annual literary prize for a single work of fiction published in English.

The nominations are testament to the enormous talent of contemporary Irish writers and underscore the high esteem in which Irish literature is held, both in Ireland and abroad.
