The Arts Council wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Irish publisher, editor and writer Steve MacDonogh, who died suddenly yesterday.
MacDonogh, who founded Brandon Books in 1982, was a leader in Irish literary publishing and was tireless in his promotion of new literary voices. His work as a publisher was intelligent, strategic, adventurous and brave, and he had the respect of his peers both in Ireland and abroad. An advocate for writers at all stages of their careers, his work will leave a lasting impression on Irish readers for generations to come. He will be greatly missed.
