'Heart and soul of Irish summer' - Olive Braiden
Ireland is bursting with creativity this summer, with more than one hundred arts festivals across the country between today and September, the Arts Council has said.
"Festivals are the heart and soul of the Irish summer and the Arts Council is very proud of its role in funding these. They play a central part in or lives, a vital role in our economy and are also a key attraction for our tourists," said Olive Braiden, Chair of the Arts Council.
From today, visitors to http://www.artscouncil.ie/Publications/ArtsCouncilFestivalCalendar2008.pdf will be able to see where and when is the nearest festival, Ms Braiden said.
The Arts Council has invested €5 million in 102 festivals between June and September, taking place right across the country.
