24 April 2008: Arts Council announces new Director of Public Affairs

The Arts Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Seán Mac Cárthaigh to its senior management team. Seán will join the existing management team as the Director of Public Affairs.

Seán has had a long career in media and public affairs, both in Ireland and abroad. He was the Dublin correspondent of The Irish News before moving to Paris for The Times (of London). In recent years he was Assistant Editor of The Sunday Business Post, focusing on politics and business, and has just returned from New York, where he was Managing Editor of The Irish Echo.

Ms. Mary Cloake, Director of the Arts Council, welcomed the appointment of Seán Mac Cárthaigh to the senior management team, "The arts has grown and developed and it needs to have the most excellent management structures possible. I believe that with the appointment of Seán, we now have the best senior management team in place to advance the objectives of the Council".
