The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealáion is delighted to announce once-off funding this year to the St. Patrick’s Festival Céilí Mór.
The Arts Council’s Céilí Mór is Ireland’s most exciting outdoor Irish music and dance event and is taking place on St. Patrick’s Day, Monday 17 March at 2.30pm on Earlsfort Terrace.
Speaking about the event, Arts Council Director, Mary Cloake, said: "We are delighted to continue our association with the St. Patrick’s festival and especially so this year as we are providing funding directly to the Céilí Mór as part of our Traditional Arts Initiative."
Join in with thousands of people as they dance and learn to dance to the sounds of The Matt Cunningham Céilí Band and Seamus Begley with Tim Edey. There will be dance displays from Baltrasna along with additional Sean-nos displays from Chlann UÍ Chuinneagáin. Daithí ó Sé will be compere for the day.
Donal Shiels Chief Executive, St. Patrick’s festival, said: "The Céilí Mór is a real festival favourite and this year promises to be a particularly lively affair! We are delighted that the Arts Council is supporting this event, which is a brilliant celebration of the traditional Irish arts of Céilí music and Sean-nós dancing. We encourage everyone to come to Earlsfort Terrace after the Parade to join in the jigs and reels and soak up some more pure Irish culture!"
