02 October 2008: New deadline for Bursary awards

The Arts Council has announced a new closing date for its Bursary Awards round 1 2009. This has been brought about by an increase in applications of over 25%. The new closing date is Thursday 27 November 2008 at 5.30pm.


01 October 2008: Arts Council announces new arts documentary scheme for film artists

The Arts Council today launched Reel Art, an Arts Council scheme designed to provide film artists with an opportunity to make highly creative and imaginative documentaries on an artistic theme.

10 September 2008: Arts Council congratulates Sebastian Barry on being shortlisted for the Man Booker prize

The Arts Council extends its congratulations to writer Sebastian Barry who has made it onto the shortlist for the Man Booker prize for his novel The Secret Scripture. This is the second year in a row that an Irish writer has been shortlisted for the prize, and is particularly exciting given Anne Enright’s success last year.
