The Arts Council extends its congratulations tonight to writer Anne Enright who has won the 2007 Man Booker prize for her novel The Gathering.
Mary Cloake, Director of the Arts Council said, "This is a wonderful achievement and honour for Anne Enright, whose commitment to the craft of writing is paramount. Significantly, it puts the international spotlight on Enright’s work and on Irish literature generally - this is the second Irish win in three years - and will be influential in raising the awareness of the wealth of literary talent that continues to emerge in Ireland".
