"Heart and soul of Irish summer" - Olive Braiden Ireland is bursting with creativity this summer, with more than one hundred arts festivals across the country between today and September, the Arts Council has said.

The Arts Council has announced details of successful recipients under round two of the Small Festivals Scheme for 2008. This specific funding programme is aimed at small locally based events and festivals that have requested funding from the Council of up to €20,000.

The Chair of the Arts Council, Olive Braiden, said Ms O'Faolain had made a significant contribution to Irish creative writing and would be mourned and badly missed by the arts community.
