The Arts Council has expressed its regret at the passing of Seán Mac Réamoinn, who died yesterday morning aged 85 years.
He was one of Irelands leading broadcasters and journalists in both Irish and English. He joined Radio Éireann in 1947 and worked with the outside broadcast unit alongside the folklorist and traditional musician Séamus Ennis. He was a leading figure in RTE for several decades where he worked in senior administrative positions.
Speaking today, Mary Cloake, Director of the Arts Council said, “Seán Mac Réamoinn was involved in many aspects of cultural life from An Taibhdhearc through to Cumann Merriman. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and colleagues. We offer our sympathy to his wife Patricia and his children”
