23 February 2010: The Arts Council expresses its regret on the passing of Eugene Lambert

The Arts Council today expressed its regret today at the passing of Eugene Lambert, founder of the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Monkstown, Co Dublin, and the Dublin International Puppet Festival.

Speaking today, David Parnell, the  Arts Council's Head of Theatre, said: "Eugene will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a committed and passionate artist who almost singlehandedly put Ireland on the map in terms of puppet theatre. From his work on RTÉ with Wanderly Wagon, to his ongoing commitment to puppet theatre, he inspired a generation of puppet theatre makers, and delighted and entertained generations of Irish children and their parents."

The Arts Council extends its condolences to Eugene’s friends and all the Lambert family.
