Guidelines for the protection and welfare of children and young people in the arts sector (PDF, 0.63 MB) The guidelines have been devised to assist those in the arts sector in the development of their own individual child protection and welfare policies and procedures. The document can be used as a template and contains ‘best practice’ elements which should be included in any child protection policy and procedures. The guidelines include: policy statement on child protection and welfare; code of behaviour; reporting procedures; confidentiality statement; recruiting and selecting staff; managing and supervising staff; involvement of primary carers; dealing with allegations against staff; complaints and comments procedures; accidents procedures.200642
Artists~Schools Guidelines (PDF, 2.60 MB) Artist~Schools practice is a general term for what happens when skilled, professional artists work for and with primary/secondary school pupils in the making, receiving and interpreting of a wide range of arts experiences. The practice can happen within or outside the schools, in all art forms and disciplines and can range from one-off visits, through more extended programmes, to intensive, collaborative projects.
