This scheme is co-funded by the Arts Council but administered by Poetry Ireland. Please note that this award may be subject to different conditions and criteria than the awards directly administered by the Arts Council. Requests for information or application forms should be directed to Poetry Ireland.
The Writers in Schools Scheme aims to empower the participant by facilitating a magical and memorable experience through the imaginative, emotional and intellectual energy and belief in language that the writer brings to the classroom.
The Writers in Schools Scheme part-funds visits by writers and storytellers to schools throughout the Republic of Ireland. There are over 250 writers and storytellers to choose from in the Writers in Schools (WIS) Web-Directory of Writers on our website. The maximum awarded per visit is €304.
Schools (primary and post-primary) and Youthreach centres can seek funding under the scheme.
For more information, please refer to the education section of the Poetry Ireland website, www.poetryireland.ie.
