MAKING AN APPLICATION

Overview

Before making an application you must read all of the Award Guidelines on this award. All applications must be made using a current Arts Council application form. Applications can be made on line. Hard copy applications can also be accepted. All applications must include a completed application form and supporting material. Application forms and support materials must be received by the Arts Council by the specified deadline.

How to apply on line

The Arts Council operates an online application process. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through the online process. To make an online application you must first register your details with us. Go to the online registration site where you will be guided through the registration process. Once registered, you will be emailed a password that will allow you to access the online applications website. The online application process goes as follows: 

  1. Register as an online applicant.
  2. Logon to the online applications website using your password.
  3. Download the application form from the online applications website. 
  4. Save the application form to your computer.
  5. Complete the application form. 
  6. Before the closing date submit the completed application form by uploading it to the online applications website (do not email it). 
  7. Post or deliver your supporting material to the Arts Council enclosing a printout of the completed Supporting Material page of the application form.

Online applicants are given additional time in which to submit supporting material, which must be hard copy. Supporting material must be received by the Arts Council no more than one week after the stated closing date.

How to apply in hard copy

If you are not able to use the Arts Council’s on line application process you may also submit your application in hard copy. To make a hard-copy application, you must request a paper application form from the Arts Council. You must post or deliver the completed application form, along with supporting material, to be received by us before the stated deadline. If you are applying with a hard copy application you do not have additional time to submit your support materials.

Completing the application form

The application form asks for information about the applicant and about your proposal. You are asked to tell us about what you want to do and why, how much it will cost and how much funding your require. The form also requires you to identify the support materials you are submitting with your application and asks you to make a declaration that you have read and understood all of the information published on the award and that the information you are providing is correct. If you do not fully complete the application form the Arts Council may not be able to make an assessment of your application.

Essential supporting material

In order to be considered eligible for assessment under this award you must submit the following support material: 

  • your CV; 
  • 3 x 10 min excerpts of previous work. Please do not submit a promotional showreel.

If your proposal involves working with children or young people then you must provide a statement that describes your code of practice regarding child protection and welfare.

If you do not submit the required supporting material the Arts Council will not be able to make an assessment of your application.

Stamped addressed envelope.

If you submit support material in hard copy and you wish to have it returned to you then you must provide an adequately sized pre-paid envelope. Where adequate postage has been supplied, supporting material will be returned to applicants by post. All other supporting material will be available for collection at The Arts Council, 70 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 for a limited period after which it will be disposed of.

How do I submit my application?

Those applying on-line must upload their application forms to the Arts Council’s on-line application website before the deadline. They then have up to one week to deliver their support materials to the Arts Council.

Those applying on a paper / hard copy application forms must post or deliver their application forms and supporting materials to the Arts Council ensuring that it arrives at the Arts Council before the stated deadline.

There is a specific guidance note for each section of the application form. The guidance notes are designed to help you to understand the questions that we ask and the sort of information we want you to provide us with.
