The Big Picture Episode 11, with Irish illustrator and author Chris Haughton
Current Laureate na nÓg PJ Lynch’s project The Big Picture celebrates the power of the imagination in children’s literature and explores the theme of storytelling through visual art.
Since the debut of the two-year project in June 2016, PJ Lynch has been participating in regular podcasts where he discusses various aspects of illustration and picturebook making. These are available to view online here: https://www.youtube.com/laureatenanog
He has also brought this theme to local communities, partnering with festivals and groups across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, to make and install large murals.

Drawing on the long tradition of mural making, these large-scale public artworks aim to celebrate the wonders of visual storytelling and respond to the culture of narrative on both parts of the island. The Big Picture is off to a fantastic start: PJ Lynch has collaborated with local children to create engaging and visually stunning works at The National Ploughing Championship, the IFI’s Family Fun Festival and the West Cork Literature festival.
